Tour Scotland Eglinton Castle Irvine Video
Tour Scotland Eglinton Castle Irvine Video. The present ruin is a function of financial distress experienced by the owning family due to a combination of a 19th century bank failure and expense incurred in building the nearby Ardrossan Harbour, Ayrshire. The building was unroofed in 1925, used for target practice in WW2 and partly demolished in 1973. Now a romantic ruin in a wonderful parkland setting which is open to the public.
