Tour Scotland Isle Of Islay Pipe Band Video

Tour Scotland Isle of Islay Pipe Band Video. The Isle of Islay, like so many of the hebridean isles, has been blessed with pipe music for the past two Millennia. For many years the Islay Piping Society had dominated music on the island. Although history shows the formation of a pipe band in the early 1950’s, it wasn’t until 1992 that islanders decided to start the current Islay Pipe Band, which was duly formed and subsequently registered with the Royal Pipe Band Association in Glasgow.

Tour Scotland Dundonald Castle Glasgow Video

Tour Scotland Dundonald Castle Glasgow Video. Dundonald Castle, Ayrshire, is a fortified tower house built for Robert II on his accession to the throne of Scotland in 1371 and it was used as a royal residence by the early Stewart kings for the next 150 years. It was said to be Robert II's favourite residence and it was here that he died in 1390.

A secret or Ley tunnel is said to link Old Auchans and Dundonald Castle. A local loch was being drained through a ditch when it was observed that the water was vanishing into the earth; locals thought that the tunnel had been breached.

Dundonald is now in the care of Historic Scotland and managed by the Friends of Dundonald Castle, it is open daily between April and October, there is also a tea-room and visitor centre.

This is one of the best preserved of a group of Roman fortlets located on the western end of the Antonine Wall. The Lurg Moor Roman Fortlet at Greenock, near Glasgow, lies between the Firth of Forth and the Firth of Clyde. Tour Scotland Curling Video

Tour Scotland Curling Video. The Lake of Menteith is located on the Flanders Moss, upstream of Stirling. Until the early 1800s, the more usual Scottish name of Loch of Menteith was used.

The Lake of Menteith is often thought of as the only body of water in Scotland that is referred to as a lake, but there are others. The Loch is not particularly deep and can freeze over completely in exceptionally cold winters. If the ice becomes 7 inches or thicker, an outdoor curling tournament called The Bonspiel or the Grand Match is held on the loch. The last Grand Match was held in 1979. The planned 2010 Bonspiel was abandoned on health and safety grounds, as was this years, but as you can see this did not stop some of the die hard curling enthusiasts.

Tour Scotland Laddie Lie Near Me Video

Tour Scotland Laddie Lie Near Me video. Sung by Connie Dover.

Long have we parted been,
Laddie, my dearie,
Now we have met again,
Laddie, lie near me.

Long have I sought thee,
Thy face to cheer me,
Dear has it cost me,
Laddie, lie near me.

Chorus
Near me, near me
Laddie, lie near me
Now we have met again
Laddie, lie near me

Here in the firelight,
What joy to see thee
All the long winter night,
Laddie, lie near me

All that I have endured,
Laddie, my dearie,
Here in thy arms is cured,
Laddie, lie near me.

My heart will never stray,
Never deceive thee,
Delight shall drive care away,
Laddie, lie near me.

Tour Scotland By Snowman Video

Tour Scotland by Snowman video. See if you can spot the following in this famous Scottish TV Advert; The Falkirk Wheel, The Forth Bridges, Glasgow’s Buchanan Street, Princes Street Gardens, The Ice Rink Edinburgh, The Loch Ness Monster, a Monarch of the Glen, Glenfinnan Viaduct of Harry Potter fame, Eilean Donan Castle, Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall, George Square Glasgow.

We're walking in the air
I'm sipping on an Irn-Bru
My chilly snowman mate
Said he would like some too.

I tell him get your own
He looks like he is going to cry
I tell him once again
The Irn-Bru is mine.

Now I'm falling through the air,
I wonder where I'm going to land.
He nicked my Irn-Bru
And let go of my hand.

Tour Scotland Ae Fond Kiss Video

Tour Scotland Ae Fond Kiss video. Written by Robert Burns. Performed by the great Scottish singer, Eddi Reader. Sir Walter Scott thought that Ae Fond Kiss contained the essence of a thousand love tales.

Ae fond kiss, and then we sever;
Ae fareweel, alas, for ever!
Deep in heart-wrung tears I'll pledge thee,
Warring sighs and groans I'll wage thee.
Who shall say that Fortune grieves him,
While the star of hope she leaves him?
Me, nae cheerful twinkle lights me;
Dark despair around benights me.

I'll ne'er blame my partial fancy,
Naething could resist my Nancy:
But to see her was to love her;
Love but her, and love for ever.
Had we never lov'd sae kindly,
Had we never lov'd sae blindly,
Never met-or never parted,
We had ne'er been broken-hearted.

Fare-thee-weel, thou first and fairest!
Fare-thee-weel, thou best and dearest!
Thine be ilka joy and treasure,
Peace, Enjoyment, Love and Pleasure!
Ae fond kiss, and then we sever!
Ae fareweeli alas, for ever!
Deep in heart-wrung tears I'll pledge thee,
Warring sighs and groans I'll wage thee.

Tour Scotland Queen Of Argyll Video

Tour Scotland Queen Of Argyll Video. A wonderful song, from the great Scots band Silly Wizard. Andy M. Stewart is lead vocals, tenor banjo Phil Cunningham: accordion, synthesizers, piano, tin whistle, and vocals Johnny Cunningham.

Gentlemen it is me duty
To inform you of one beauty
Though I'd ask of you a favor
Not to seek her for a while
Though I own she is a creature
Of character and feature
No words can paint the picture
Of the Queen of all Argyll.

Chorus:
And if you could have seen her there
Boys, if you had just been there
The swan was in her movements
And the morning in her smile
All the roses in the garden
They bow and ask her pardon
For not one could match the beauty
Of the Queen of all Argyll.

On the evening that I mentioned
I passed with light intention
Through a part of our dear country
Known for beauty and for style
In the place of noble thinkers
Of scholars and great drinkers
But above them all for splendor
Shone the Queen of all Argyll.

Chorus:
And if you could have seen her there
Boys, if you had just been there
The swan was in her movements
And the morning in her smile
All the roses in the garden
They bow and ask her pardon
For not one could match the beauty
Of the Queen of all Argyll.

Chorus:
And if you could have seen her there
Boys, if you had just been there
The swan was in her movements
And the morning in her smile
All the roses in the garden
They bow and ask her pardon
For not one could match the beauty
Of the Queen of all Argyll.

So my lads I needs must leave you
My intentions no' to grieve you
Nor indeed would I deceive you
Oh I'll see you in a while
I must find some way to gain her
To court her and attain her
I fear my heart's in danger
From the Queen of all Argyll.

Chorus:
And if you could have seen her there
Boys, if you had just been there
The swan was in her movements
And the morning in her smile
All the roses in the garden
They bow and ask her pardon
For not one could match the beauty
Of the Queen of all Argyll.
